ISO 26262 Training: Automotive Safety

ISO 26262 Training: Automotive Safety covers the functional safety aspects of ISO 26262. You also will learn about the origin of this guideline, its applications, and an overview of the entire parts of ISO 26262.

ISO 26262 delivers the guidelines and prospects to make sure a case for safety is incorporated in new product planning process, from the initial conceptual design through decommissioning. ISO 26262 standard complements the present method of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) applied in product and process quality planning. ISO 26262 training will teach you to create, develop, and execute technical risk assessment practices and protocols to verify that you comply to ISO 26262 requirements.

ISO 26262 Expectations

  • Automotive safety lifecycle
  • Design and testing actions
  • Functional safety policies
  • Automotive-exclusive technique of risk types identification
  • Automotive Safety Integrity Levels (ASILs)
  • Validation requirements

Functional Safety Strategies:

  • Requirements description
  • Product design
  • Design safety guidelines execution
  • Software incorporation
  • Verification by using technical risk analysis and evaluation
  • Design verification before launching

Automotive Safety Integrity Levels Ranking

ASILs ranking are classified in a way under which various safety risk levels prioritize associated mitigation activities. The highest level of risks needs more specified improvement or decomposition. ASIL levels are demonstrated as alphabet letters, ordered from highest to lowest risk:

  • ASIL D
  • ASIL C
  • ASIL B
  • ASIL A
  • QM (Quality Managed)

While QM is crucial to ASIL for operation, it is not relevant to safety.

Once all risk mitigation actions are completed, the process should accomplish one of the following results:

  • Design the product with no failure and Hazard
  • No single element failure (Single Point), can collapse at a rate higher than 1 * (10–8), allowing the Hazard to happen
  • Develop redundancy and / or safe phase default circumstances that need multipoint failures for the Hazard to happen
