Keeping up with 5G technology? It’s a sure bet your competitors are.

5G was a little slow rolling out in the U.S. A global pandemic didn’t help either. But now with standalone 5G taking center stage, the promise of 5G architecture is beginning to manifest.

CCS Insight predicts that 5G will have 1 billion users in 2023.

Analysts advise organizations to be planning to incorporate 5G architecture in their future plans because U.S. operators are making significant progress in their midband and millimeter wave 5G deployments. Consequently, 5G and Cloud computing will likely have the most crucial impact in 2023.

Considering the number of satellites that has increased in the recent years, 2023 will see new perspective of connectivity, since 5G is pointed out as one of the most important areas of technology.

According to IEEE, one area in particular 5G will largely impact in the coming year is vehicle connectivity and automation. This, because of 5G’s fast and high data throughput.

Other areas to benefit from 5G architecture in 2023 include:

  • Remote learning and education
  • Personal and professional day-to-day communications
  • Manufacturing/assembly
  • Transportation and traffic control
  • Entertainment, sports and live event streaming
  • Carbon footprint reduction and energy efficiency

The FCC is also taking bold steps to use 5G and other technologies to close the digital divide. For example, they have launched an effort to evaluate utilizing AI to enhance the accuracy of and broadband maps.

The FCC has also distributed $9.2 billion nationally to help close the digital divide across rural America via the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF).
