5G Training Courses

5G Training Courses: It’s new, it’s faster – it’s 5G.

While this superior fifth generation of wireless technology is not expected to be readily available until 2020, testing is currently being held in cities around the country.

Speeds with 5G will be significantly faster. Currently, top 4G LTE transfer speeds average about one gigabit per second. That means it takes about an hour to download a short HD movie in perfect condition. However, this top speed with the current standard is seldom realized due to signals being interferred with by buildings, microwaves and other Wi-Fi signals.

5G will increase download speeds up to 10 gigabits per second. A full HD movie will be downloaded in a matter of seconds. It will also reduce latency significantly (giving people faster load times). In short, 5G  will give wireless broadband the capacity it needs to power thousands of connected devices that will reach our homes and workplaces.

History

Innovative 5G follows a parade of wireless technology that started with analog telecommunications standard 1G in the 1980s. This was replaced a decade later with 2G digital telecommunications enabling people to send text messages between two cellular devices.

Eventually the standard moved on to 3G, which enabled users to make phone calls, send text messages and browse the internet. 4G enhanced many of the capabilities that were made possible with the third generation of wireless including the ability to even download and upload large video files without any issues.

Currently, consortiums of major global telecoms are trying to create worldwide standards around 5G. Although most of those standards haven’t been solidified, the 5G technology will likely be backward compatible (with 4G and 3G) in addition to having some interoperability across the world

The Need to Know

Like its slower relatives before it, 5G is a wireless technology designed to keep up with the proliferation of devices that need a mobile internet connection.

Currently an estimated 6.4 billion connected devices exist on the planet. By 2020, a predicted 20.8 billion devices will be connected to the internet.

Engineers, students and organizations should know what’s coming and be prepared for  5G when it becomes the standard.
