Bluetooth® 5.0 technology by Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) introduces 4x range, 2x speed and 8x broadcasting message capacity.
These enhancements of Bluetooth 5 focus on increasing the capabilities of Bluetooth for the Internet of things (IoT) along with improved interoperability.
Bluetooth 5.0 Technology Feature Summary:
- Four times as much reach as the current 4.2 standard.
- Coverage of up to 40 meters
- Twice as much speed, with a maximum speed of 2MBps compared to the current 1MBps in Bluetooth LE.
- Enhancements to lower battery consumption
- Reduced interference with other wireless technologies crucial to IoT devices
